Last few days have not been great for my tongue. It am tired of tasting bland pastas, cheesy pizzas, cut fruits and yogurt. Being a vegetarian in an European country is NOT easy. Since I got back from my office early today I decided to look around for an Indian restaurant in Paris. BTW I am put up in Hyatt Regency Etiolle near Porte Malliot. One of the few restaurants I could find was Kirane’s. Me and two of my colleagues decided to check out this restaurant.
We stepped into the restaurant and were quite surprised by the welcome. An Indian waiter came-over and greeted us “Namaste”. For me it felt like homecoming and I was all set to feast on the rotis, naans, paneer dishes and Indian butter 😉
We ordered garlic naans, paneer tikka masala and vegetable biryani along with mix-veg raita. Food tasted absolutely superb. Specially for me, since I was having Indian food after a week’s time and for a foodie like me this was certainly needed! Surprisingly no dish was indian-ized, specially the paneer tikka masala was AWESOME! Vegetable biryani was equally decent as it was nicely garnished with vegetables.
Kirane’s is about 15 minute walk from Arc De Tromphe and 3 metro stations away from Eiffel Tower. It is run by an NRI, Kirane Grover Gupta who is one of the most popular chefs in Paris. Her books on recipes of her dishes are quite a hit in this part of the world. If you are on a day long self tour in Paris, I would definitely recommend you this restaurant.
